Do Not Avoid Joy

Daily writing prompt
Describe one habit that brings you joy.

The habit(s) that bring me joy are several, but sometimes I lack the consistently, but why does being consistent elude me? Those habits: lifting weights, reading a good book, playing frisbee with my dog, bring me much joy.

Too often, I seem to let my job be my whole day, instead of cleaning my hands (and mind) off work and realizing that I still have several more hours to enjoy what brings me actual joy. As I am writing this, it comes to mind that when I surrender my time to my phone (biggest culprit) , it is defeating my will to do more, to live better and become better.

I must remeber that ninety-five percent of whatever I see on my phone will not be remembered the next day and almost a hundred percent will be all forgotten by next week.

The habit that brings joy, the more often it is consistently done, it reverbrates into your character and creates a better outlook on life. Seeing your joy joyfully trotting back to you after a mid air catch, lifting a heavier weight than you did a few sessions ago, or absorbing a good book, all those habits make you feel like you are doing pretty good.

Whaever it is that hinders us, learn to habitually put that thing away after it has served it’s purpose. My phone’s purpose is to keep me connected in an essential and important way, but is is not to be my addiction. Give it rest and put it away. Continually cultivate your good habits, daily.
